At Ancient Surfaces we are committed to preserving the elegance and history of architectural antiquity. We source, reclaim and conserve antique limestone mantels and architectural stone fireplace surrounds, then sell them on to the living rooms, libraries and estates being built today, turning mantels carved generations ago into the quiet centre of a new room. A room deserves a centrepiece with something behind it.
Our specialists source reclaimed limestone mantels of every character. Carved pediment mantels with figural relief and scrolled cabriole legs, arcaded friezes set within ashlar surrounds, rosette medallions, and plain rustic profiles where the stone does all the talking. Each mantel is cleaned, stabilised and conserved with respect for the patina it arrived with. We are careful never to restore that away.
